My Dream House
Home is where the heart is. Every man and woman dreams of owning a piece of property that they can retreat to. Different people have different notions of a dream house. Mine is just as different.
My dream house would be a wooden structure built in the traditional Malay kampung house style. Part of it would be on stilts while the rest is on the ground.
It would have a modern interior with all the creature comforts today's houses have, but mine would have a verandah running round the house. The house will havelatticed doors and plenty of ventilation. The high roof will have no ceilings so as to enjoy the wooden structure holding it up. There will be five bedrooms and a library of course to store all my wonderful books.
My dream home will have exquisite bathrooms in slate and marble, maybe an open roof concept where you bathe with the sun shining upon you. Another must is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area for I love to cook and entertain. There will be state-of-the-art ovens and burners to whip up a delectable meal served on an antique table. An outdoor barbeque pit will grace the patio that leads out to the garden.
Of course a house will not be complete without a garden. My house will be surrounded by an orchard of maybe 5 acres. There must be a pond with koi and a fountain made to seem par of the terrain. Goats, a cow or two, some cats and a proper stable for them to rest in at night would be perfect. Built on a slope the house would command a view of the nearby coast. The hills behind it will be an avenue for long walks and photography excursions.
My dream home will have a garage to house my cars, above which will be the rec-room. A pool table and an a.v. room would complete the picture. The gravel driveway will be lined with jasmine while bougainvilleas of all hues will run riot in strategic places. Ah! It is such a wonderful feeling to dream.
