27. Describe an unforgettable holiday

I woke with a start.  That day, my family and I had made plans to embark on a journey to Genting Highlands.  With a great smile carved on our faces, my sister and, Jane and I packed some necessities to bring along the road.  The drive to Genting Highlands was a bumpy ride, but it was all worth it when we were able o hitch a ride on a cable car midway through our drive.  We gaped at every little thing we saw along the way like the steep cliffs and the gigantic trees since it was our first time on a hill.

Before we made our way to the main attractions at Genting Highlands, we had a little detour to take a short walk and admire the greenery.  It was all so wonderful to take in!  Even more mountains and hills peeped out in the distance, a great variety of trees rose to an incredible height, butterflies and birds fluttered and chirped around the area like dancing fairies.  The cool air had a refreshing smell of wood and flowers.  Even the grass below us felt like a soft, warm carpet spread out among the trees.  The sky was a lovely blue, dotted with clouds of peculiar shapes.  We trotted along the ground with the breeze blowing gently against us.

The sun hung straight up on the sky by the time we were at the funfair.  Dozens of thrilling rides and playhouses crowded the place, and bright exciting colours flashed in our eyes as my sisters and I darted across the funfair.  We could only contain so much excitement! With her little finger pointing towards the roller coaster, she bounced impatiently and urged us to come to her.  We walked with brisk steps and stepped on board the roller coaster can.  As the car made a slow start, I heard thumping in my ears and soon we were lifted off the ground.  The feris wheel that seemed so huge and intimidating before did not feel so scary now.  Winding ahead, I prepared myself for the fearful dive.

The cart reached its final peak.  Whoosh!  We plummeted at an unbelievable speed!  Adrenaline rushed through my veins like a bullet.  I screamed my lungs out.  It was like freefalling from the sky two-thousand metres from the earth.  My feet were glued on to the flooring of the cart as my knuckles tuned white from clenching the lap bar.  The gushing wind wheezed past my face as I shut my eyes till I could only see pitch-black darkness.  At long last the car came to halt and I staggered onto the platform.  I think I had got cold feet.  I didn’t suppose I was quite the daredevil I thought I was.  My parents suggested that we play some games and win prizes after that.  It wasn’t nearly as memorable as the roller coaster ride, though.

Our next stop was the shopping centre.  We grabbed a bite and rested our tired legs.  We decided to relax and chill-out by catching a movie.  We made up our minds on the latest airing movie at the time – ”Captain Underpants”!  The movie was hilarious and light-hearted, yet at the same time, it has mixed elements of wisdom and words of encouragement.  Not too shabby for a youngster like me, but not too childish for an adult like my parents (I think).  After the movie ended, my family and I went to glance around at the variety of shops there.  We bought a lot of things, although it was mostly mum who made most of the purchases.

In the end, we called it a day as we carried bags and bundles of souvenirs and food.  We descended Genting Highlands the same way we ascended it.  Although we were drained mentally and physically at the end of the day, we now have a pleasant and unfogettable memory etched inside our hearts, waiting to be relived again.  Going on family trips always creates a whirlpool of endearing moments with your loved ones.  We can strengthen family bonds by going on a trip together.  It is always a delight to be able to go on adventurous trips, as the saying goes, some things are not meant to be done, but to be experienced.  (As an added bonus, you get to prove your family that you are capable of a soprano when you are in a nerve-wrecking situation like during a roller coaster ride).
